Transporting heavy loads through tight spaces is the ideal operational area for the WL28 wheel loader. It can easily handle pallets of paving stones or other material up to 1.6 metric tons. The electronically-controlled travel drive with various travel modes enables extremely productive work using the machine. The low-designed cab ensures excellent visibility and high tipping loads. Because of the outstanding visibility, the machine offers exceptional safety during operation. The low operating weight also allows the WL28 to be transported on a car trailer.

Comfort cab

  • The comfort cab has been optimized to meet the needs of the operator and enables safe and fatigue-free working: 4-pillar design, deep-drawn windows, and panoramic rear window for optimal all-round visibility. Heating with optimized air circulation and air conditioning for constant, comfortable temperatures. Ergonomically arranged controls, new interior, and reduced vibrations and noise in the cab increase comfort for the operator.
  • The amount of space in the cab is pioneering for vert compact wheel loaders. The air conditioning system can be integrated into the cab without additional superstructure. There is a choice between two different joysticks depending on the equipment and configuration. The coming-home lighting ensures additional comfort and safety.
  • The cab is also suitable for taller operators, which isn't always the case for very compact wheel loaders. The pleasant working climate reduces operator fatigue. The optimized access with non-slip steps ensures that the operator can get in and out safely.

Electronically regulated drive system

  • Drive and work smarter! With the electronically-controlled drive system, the machine can be driven and used as needed. Four different driving modes were implemented by Wacker Neuson specifically for this purpose. Auto mode and Eco mode are always available as standard. Either attachment mode or M-Drive mode can be optionally selected. This offers maximum flexibility for the operator as they can configure the machine according to their needs.
  • Electronic control reduces losses in the drive system and ensures higher efficiency and increased effectiveness, compared to existing solutions. Lower power requirements enable driving at low speeds. A perfectly coordinated package of protective measures also ensures reliable and long-lasting operation of the machine.

Electric parking brake

  • The electric parking brake is applied automatically when the machine is stationary, the direction of travel is set to neutral or the operator leaves the seat. The parking brake is released automatically when the machine is restarted using the accelerator pedal. This provides increased safety and comfort for the operator and their working environment. The machine can therefore be operated very efficiently thanks to the electric parking brake.
  • The electric parking brake can also be activated or deactivated manually by pressing a switch. The operator is always in control and can work with the machine according to his own needs and preferences.
  • The electric parking brake offers both a comfortable auto-hold and hill-hold function. This prevents the machine from rolling away unintentionally and thus increases safety when working.

High productivity thanks to the low front carriage

  • The low front carriage makes high tipping loads and break out forces possible; this way, the maximum load per work cycle can be moved.
  • The low front carriage provides for an outstanding overview of the attachment, the immediate work area and the entire surroundings of the machine, which guarantees safe working with the machine.
  • The auxiliary hydraulics at the front on the load arm are protected by piping (3rd control circuit, 4th control circuit, overflow line, unpressurized return line, depending on the model).   • Because of the articulated pendulum joint with 12° oscillating angle, all four wheels retain excellent traction, even on uneven ground conditions and the operator maintains optimal control. This increases the productivity of the entire machine system.
  • The large articulation and pendulum angle ensures high traction on the ground, making the machine easy to maneuver. As a result, there is no collision between the front and rear sections of the machine in confined conditions.

This gives the operator the advantage of quickly finding his way around on different Wacker Neuson wheel loaders and being able to work productively.
  • The Wacker Neuson operating philosophy allows the operator to easily understand the machine, which enables him to work safely and productively. The operator can be found operating different Wacker Neuson machines, even across product groups. Ergonomic Joystick

  • The joystick fits securely and comfortably in one hand. The control is direct and sensitive at the same time. The operator therefore always has complete control over the machine and its most important functions.
  • In addition to standard functions such as direction selection and speed setting, many other functions such as the differential lock, the 3rd and 4th control circuits, high-flow, and all electric functions can be operated via the joystick.   • The cabs feature large, adjustable wide-opening doors on both sides. The upper window can fold up completely and be locked. A gap ventilation is also possible. This provides fresh air in the cab even without air conditioning and increases operator comfort in warm outside temperatures.

Comfortable and ergonomic operator's seat

  • The operator’s seat is adjustable, ergonomically formed and well suspended. The optional air-suspended comfort seat provides even more comfortable operation conditions.   • The attachment-mode is perfectly suited for the use of attachments. In this mode, you adjust the rpm of the diesel engine with the hand throttle and control the travel speed with the driver pedal or the cruise control. This enables you to make very fine adjustments of 0.10 km/h to your speed via the display. This guarantees a constant forward momentum for the attachment. If the load on the attachment becomes too high (e.g., various clippings in front of a mulcher), the machine automatically reduces the travel speed to provide the attachment with the highest possible power. When the load is reduced again, the machine returns to the preset speed. However, if you want to carry out driving or reversing movements faster, you can override at any time by operating the foot pedal and even bring the machine to maximum speed.
  • In attachment mode, the machine's diesel engine and the attachment are always optimally utilized. This ensures maximum productivity and the best possible work result. In addition, the operator's workload is reduced, thus increasing comfort. The operator can work with the machine longer and without fatigue.

  • The M-Drive mode is the perfect choice for the optimal execution of Y-loading cycles. In this mode, you adjust the rpm of the diesel engine with the hand throttle and control the travel speed with the driver pedal. This eliminates the need for inching and supports the execution of fast Y-loading cycles.
  • In M-Drive mode, the engine permanently runs at a high speed without having to be calibrated. This enables comfortable working with attachments as well as efficient material handling over very short distances, such as when loading a truck.

Optimum tires

  • The correct tires for a wheel loader play an important role in the actual application. If the tires are optimally matched to the surface and area of use, the driver can work with the machine without any problems.
  • Choosing the right tires offers maximum traction and minimum wear, which saves money as the tires do not have to be changed frequently.

The switches and controls are divided into different color groupings: Gray = electrical, Red = safety, Blue/Orange = drive system, Green = hydraulics.   • 1. No pressure on inch brake pedal: full power for the drive system 2. Slightly depressed inch-brake pedal: speed is reduced, more power to the work hydraulics. 3. Firmly depressed brake-inch pedal: The speed is reduced further, even more power to the work hydraulics. 4. Fully depressed inch-brake pedal: the wheel loader stands still, full power to the work hydraulics.
  • The advantages of the inch-brake pedal are obvious: less wear on the operating brake and optimum power distribution of the engine output.

Rear hydraulic connections

  • The machine can be equipped with rear hydraulic connections (single or double-acting). This increases the machine's range of applications because rear hydraulic attachments or tipper trailers can also be operated.

Engine standard

  • The standard engine in the WL28 delivers 18.4 kW / 25 hp18.4 kW / 25 hp. The big advantage is that is complies with stage V exhaust emission standards and does not require any exhaust aftertreatment. This engine well suited for light applications, such as simple material handling and for users who tend to spend fewer operating hours with their machine.
  • The standard engine in the WL28 is a 3-cylinder common rail, with high torque and impressive efficiency. This engine does not require any exhaust after-treatment, which automatically reduces maintenance costs and eliminates the need for DPF replacement.

Engine option

  • A larger engine with 33.3 kW / 45.3 hp or 40.1 kW / 54.5 hp33.3 kW / 45.3 hp or 40.1 kW / 54.5 hp is optionally available in the WL28. These variants were developed for the professional use of power-demanding attachments. Here, emission standard stage V was implemented by installing a diesel particulate filter (DPF) in combination with a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC). Urea solution (DEF) does not need to be added with this technology.
  • The entire engine unit, including the exhaust after-treatment, comes from the same manufacturer, so that all components are perfectly coordinated, and the engine automatically regenerates at the appropriate operating temperature.
  • It is a powerful 3-cylinder common rail engine, which impresses with its high power density.

  • In ECO-mode, the engine speed is reduced to 2,200 rpm once the desired vehicle speed has been reached, ensuring both noise reduction and fuel savings.
  • Eco-mode enables comfortable and resource-saving driving, especially over longer distances.

Pressure relief on the loading system

  • The button for pressure release is easily accessible on the outside of the loading system. In this way, different hydraulically-operated attachments can be replaced even faster and more efficiently. This also works with the ignition switched on or the engine running.
  • When the pressure release is actuated, the 3rd control circuit and, if available, the 4th control circuit are depressurized simultaneously and hydraulically-operated attachments can be changed quickly and safely.

Flat-Face Hydraulic Couplings

  • Easy exchange of attachments: The flat-face hydraulic couplings are easy to clean and ensure less contamination throughout the hydraulic system. Hardly any leakage occurs when connecting hydraulic hoses, keeping hands, the machine, the attachment and the ground clean.
  • Flat-face hydraulic couplers also allow attachments to be connected under pressure, saving time. All coupling types are mounted on the same bulkhead for easy access.
